After months of rumors, and recent reports that the Secretary had prepared his resignation letter, President Trump tweeted that he fired Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. Trump used the word – “terminated.”

“Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service,” said Trump.

In his Tweet, he also announced in his words that “Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately.”

Trump added that “Chris will do a GREAT job!”

So, who is Christopher Miller? The experiences that led to today’s appointment started at the beginning of Miller’s auspicious military-oriented career.
