Analysis – In March, the Pentagon launched what I called a salvo of “Bizarre, ‘Woke,’ Totally Wrong and Very Dangerous Attacks on Fox News Pundit Tucker Carlson” over his mocking flight suits for pregnant service members.
I also wrote about the unprecedented Pentagon reaction to its civilian critics. Now we see yet another salvo by Biden’s Pentagon against a critic, but in this case, it is the Secretary of Defense indirectly attacking a sitting U.S. Senator.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin indirectly slammed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz for accusing the Army of making a recruitment ad that makes their soldiers look like “pansies.”
According to Austin, America’s foes would seize on those comments. China and Russia “would like to capitalize on talking points like that,” Austin said in an interview with CNN published on Memorial Day, adding that the US military will never be “soft.”
“I will not lose one minute of sleep about what the Chinese leadership is saying or what Vladimir Putin is saying. What I will focus on, and what I am focused on is the defense of this nation and making sure that we have what’s needed to be successful,” the defense secretary said.
If true, Austin appears to be losing a lot more sleep over a U.S. Senators’ tweets, than he is over the Russians or Chinese, which is not necessarily what I would prefer. And Austin totally ignores the real issue – the ‘talking points’ the Army gave our foes, CCP China and Russia, by its absurdly woke recruitment videos. Videos I’m certain both regimes are showing to their troops as motivation, if not laughs.
As the New York Post noted, Cruz earlier this month retweeted a video that compared a Russian military recruitment ad showcasing masculine soldiers shooting and fighting with an Army video focusing on a female soldier with “two moms.”
“Holy crap. Perhaps a woke, emasculated military is not the best idea….,” the Texas Republican wrote on Twitter, saying the video makes soldiers look like “pansies.” I reported on these absurdly woke videos here and here. The soft, animated Army ad told the story of a female corporal who was raised by a lesbian ‘two mommies’ couple, who considered herself a freedom fighter because she marched in ‘gay pride’ parades.

The Army ad is part of an ad campaign intended to “shatter” military stereotypes by telling the true stories of ‘woke’ soldiers.
While Austin and others falsely accuse Cruz of attacking the military, Cruz makes it clear that is not what he is doing.
Cruz tweeted: “I’m enjoying lefty blue checkmarks losing their minds over this tweet, dishonestly claiming that I’m’ ‘attacking the military.’ Uh, no. We have the greatest military on earth, but Dem politicians & woke media are trying to turn them into pansies. The new Dem videos are terrible.”

Perhaps Austin should be less concerned with Senator Cruz’s tweets, and more concerned with the great talking points the U.S. Army is giving America’s enemies with its ridiculous recruitment ads. ADN
