As the Administration Obstructs, Americans Keep Trying to Save People Left Behind in Afghanistan (PART 1)

ANALYSIS – Over the past month I have been involved in a major effort to save Americans and vetted, at-risk Afghans left behind in Afghanistan. Our private, volunteer group, ‘PLAN B’ – the Afghan Rescue Crew (ARC) – only one of many groups, has had many successes, especially in the earlier part of the effort.

However, as time goes on, helping these Americans citizens (AMCITS), Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs or Green Card holders), Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders, interpreters (TERPS) and all other at-risk Afghans gets increasingly more difficult.

Sadly, while the Taliban and associated terror groups are the primary danger, our own administration is a major part of the problem, creating obstacles and roadblocks at every step – even while publicly denying it, and promising cooperation with private groups.

Some sources with direct knowledge of the administration’s plans and thinking, hint that Team Biden doesn’t want a ‘brain drain’ from Afghanistan, wanting qualified Afghans to remain to run things. Others argue for other motives for slow rolling evacuation efforts, including back room deals with the Taliban.

But the facts remain the same.

Team Biden continues to be a major impediment – at least from where our team, and others, sit.

To be clear, our team has publicly stated its willingness to work with the administration in any way that will actually help save lives and get people out safely and quickly. And we remain committed to that.

National Review (NR) recently wrote a story on our group, interviewing the ARC Co-Director, Jean Marie Thrower, a dynamo of a person, and businesswoman, and former logistics officer in the Army’s 82nd Airborne division.

Thrower describes herself as immensely frustrated and angered by the U.S. government’s actions, or lack thereof, so far — but said that ARC remains open to working with any U.S. government efforts to get desperate Americans and Afghans out. She said that she doesn’t care who gets the credit, as long as those at-risk figure out a way to escape Afghanistan. ADN
