‘PLAN B -The ARC’ Private Group Rescues 374 US and Afghan Evacuees by Plane to UAE

‘PLAN B -The ARC’ Private Group Rescues 374 US and Afghan Evacuees by Plane to UAE

Despite myriad obstacles and challenges, many weeks of efforts continue to pay off as the private volunteer group – PLAN B – THE ARC (Afghan Rescue Crew) – just rescued 374 Americans, Green Card holders, and vetted at-risk Afghan allies.

Working with a network of private donors, volunteers, and several other private groups who prefer to remain anonymous, PLAN B got a planeload of evacuees from Afghanistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, October 17. Most had been waiting in hiding for over two and half months.

In a message sent out on Sunday by PLAN B Director Jean Marie Thrower, she stated:

Today in Afghanistan, PLAN B – THE ARC saved 374 souls after working to coordinate safe houses, ground transportation and a chartered plane out of the country. I want to take this time to recognize everyone on the team who has worked tirelessly night and day for months, to save our brothers and sisters. It is quite a feat to bring volunteers together to rescue such a large group of people from a country halfway around the world remotely from the United States.

I want to send a special thanks to Paul Crespoof American Defense News (ADN) who as the founder of this effort brought us all together and created this incredible team!

Please pass this message on to others to help with fundraising and other support. We still have many more people trapped behind Taliban lines and will keep working to get out as many as possible.

These are some photos of the recent rescue plane departure.

PLAN B currently has lists totaling more than 2,000 people still waiting to be evacuated. These include American citizens and their Afghan family members, Green Card holders and their family members, close family of US citizens in the United States, as well as hundreds of loyal Afghan allies who worked with U.S. or NATO forces, the U.S. government of U.S.-sponsored NGOs, as well as prosecutors and judges who went after Taliban terrorists.

There is also a contingent of persecuted Christians in danger which PLAN B has been rescuing, and will continue to rescue, with help from its partner groups.

“All these folks are strictly vetted by our team,” said Thrower, adding that they are required to provide documents to substantiate their claims. This includes passports, IDs, certificates, reference letters, and photos. All are also sponsored by someone in the United States.

Not to mention that they are being flown to friendly third countries where they are vetted again by the U.S. government before any are allowed to fly to the United States.

This is very different from many who were flown to the U.S. on government flights during the chaos prior to the fall of Kabul airport August 31, some of whom were vetted poorly or not at all.

The ARC works closely with other private rescue groups inside and outside Afghanistan to obtain aircraft and flight approvals to third countries. It also provides for the safe housing, care, and feeding of those pending evacuation, since most are in hiding from the Taliban, have lost their jobs and income, and are in desperate need of assistance just to survive.

With winter fast approaching the conditions will get much worse. Freezing and starvation are real possibilities.  Thrower asked for as much help with donations as possible.

The ARCPLANB.org GOFUNDME site is focused on raising funds to provide this life-saving help for these deserving evacuees. Additional donations are received by private donors directly to the group when the donations are large, or privacy and anonymity are required. Please reach out to ARCNOW@ARCNOW for more information.

Thrower added that PLAN B- ARC scrupulously follows all applicable U.S. laws and regulations in pursuing its humanitarian mission.

“We are extremely careful to do everything we do by the book”, she said. “If there is any doubt about anything, we don’t do it. Period. We also have very knowledgeable lawyers helping us pro-bono on this effort. They make sure we do everything right.” ADN
